Blacktown Council Household Clean-Up: How to Book Your 12 Free Collections (2026)
Quick answer
Blacktown City Council says you can book up to 12 collections a year and there is no extra fee. Book online through the council's Household clean-up service page (household clean-up request, or a mattress-only form), or call 02 5300 6000. You may have to wait up to 4 weeks for a date, so plan ahead. Not sure you're in Blacktown? Which council am I in?
Who can book
- Only properties paying for a Council waste service.
- Owners and/or tenants must be living at the property at the time of collection.
- Council does not accept bookings from strata or real estate managers.
Checklist: how to put it out
- Limit: one box trailer load (2m x 1m x 1m) per collection.
- Put items out neatly no earlier than the night before your collection date.
- Use your nature strip, in an accessible spot not blocked by vehicles; don't block footpaths, pathways or driveways.
- Keep furniture whole — don't break it up. Remove doors (or tape them shut) on fridges and other items.
- Tie carpet into bundles one person can carry, no longer than 1.5 metres; cover it if rain looks likely.
- Tree clippings/branches: no thicker than your wrist, tied in bundles no longer than 1.5m. Wrap thorny branches (e.g. bougainvillea, roses).
- Box, bag or bundle lawn clippings, garden waste and loose items.
- Mattresses go next to the pile — not on top or under items. Council says they can take up to 2 business days to be collected (see mattress guide).
- Whitegoods are collected separately and can take up to 5 business days (see fridges & whitegoods).
What is not collected
- Building materials (tiles, bricks, gyprock, metals, wood, fencing, pallets, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, guttering); concrete, cement/masonry; industrial metals
- Heavy items or gym equipment that can't be safely carried by 2 people
- Hazardous material: oils, paints, liquid waste, gas cylinders, chemicals; asbestos
- Windows, glass, mirrors, crockery, ceramics
- Car batteries, motors, car bodies, tyres, batteries
- Chicken wire, wire netting; food waste, general rubbish, tree stumps/trunks, sanitary items, soil, bulk cardboard; bean bag fill
- More than one box trailer load
Where the rest goes
Council says excess waste, building waste and car parts may be accepted at these facilities:
- Remondis Resource Recovery Centre — 29 Powers Road, Seven Hills — 13 73 73
- Veolia Eastern Creek Resource Recovery Park — Wallpark Road, Eastern Creek — 1300 651 116
Some excluded items can go free to a community recycling service or an EPA Chemical CleanOut event: see our CRC / e-waste & paint guide and Household Chemical CleanOut dates 2026. Usable items can be donated to charities or community groups.
