Sutherland Shire Off-Leash Dog Parks & Beaches: All 8 Spots, Times and Rules (2026)
Sutherland Shire Council lists eight dog off-leash parks and beaches. Everywhere else, dogs must be on a leash, and dogs must be leashed when entering and leaving an off-leash area. Several spots have time restrictions or closing times — always read the signs.

The 3 beaches
Greenhills Beach, Cronulla
Enter at Gate 5 (2 Mitchell Road). Dogs are allowed on the beach only during off-leash hours: 4pm–10am in daylight saving time and 3pm–10am outside daylight saving. The beach is not patrolled and swimming isn't recommended. Dogs must stay leashed on Wanda Reserve, and are prohibited on the dunes behind the beach, north of Gate 1 (Merries Reef), on the heritage-listed dune, and on Wanda Beach south of Wanda Track 5. Declared dangerous/menacing and restricted-breed dogs are not permitted. Official Greenhills page.
Silver Beach, Kurnell
No time restrictions per council. Check the Kurnell “where can I take my dog” brochure on the council page.
Horderns Beach, Bundeena
Time restrictions apply — check signs on arrival. Dogs are not allowed in the adjoining Royal National Park.
The 5 parks
- Carina Bay Reserve, Como — no time restrictions.
- Helena Street, Kirrawee — fenced dog park; closing times apply.
- The Ridge, Barden Ridge — bush park off Recreation Drive; closing times apply.
- Heathcote Oval — now on council's list of eight; closing times apply.
- Apsley Place, Taren Point — greyhounds only; time restrictions apply.
Daylight saving vs standard time
Greenhills is the clearest example: off-leash from 4pm in daylight saving, from 3pm in standard time, both until 10am. Other timed areas show hours on signs.

Rules to know
