Free e-waste / paint / CRC drop-off in Sydney

NSW Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) take common household problem wastes that do not belong in kerbside bins — usually free for householders, in household quantities.

NSW EPA — Community Recycling Centres Find a CRC or CleanOut

What CRCs typically accept (EPA list)

Guide limit: about 20 litres or 20 kilograms per waste type (household quantities). Some centres accept extra streams (for example e-waste) — always check the local centre.

Who can use them? NSW EPA guidance is that most CRCs are open to NSW householders (businesses are not eligible). Inner West CRCs (Leichhardt and St Peters) state clearly: “No proof of residence is required” (Inner West CRC page, last updated 13 Oct 2026; re-checked 2026-10-27). Always confirm on the specific centre’s page before you go — rules can differ by site (and EPA still notes some centres may have local conditions).
Household chemicals (cleaners, pool chemicals, pesticides, fuels, acids, etc.) are generally not CRC items — take them to a Household Chemical CleanOut event. Use the EPA finder for dates.

Do not put CRC items on a clean-up pile. Paint, gas bottles, batteries, chemicals and asbestos-related materials are kerbside hazards and are refused by clean-up crews. Handle and transport carefully (tray/sheet in the boot for leaks).
